Sunburn 2009 was much more than just music
This year Sunburn was back in a bigger and much improved format. In its third year since inception, Sunburn, property of Percept, in partnership with Nikhil Chinapa, pulled a coup of sorts as World’s No 1 DJ; Armin van Buuren headlined the festival. And Grammy award winner/house legend, DJ Roger Sanchez co-headlined along with Sander Van Doorn. Sunburn 2009 also invited global clubbing brand and dance behemoth Gatecrasher for the label stage. Located by the seaside in Goa, The Sunburn Festival became a hotspot for electronic music lovers from across the world, with the festival offering a unique mix of leading Indian and international performers accompanied by a perfect beach setting.
Taking this lifestyle experience forward, Sunburn 2009 was much more than just music. The festival had a flea market with close to sixty stalls, a food world where cuisine from across the world is being served and also a rock-climbing wall and volleyball matches on the beach. The festival consolidated the best global talent from India and abroad, with the intention of celebrating music, celebrating life and fostering a sense of healthy community and harmony. This year festival goers were also treated to a visual feast with a never before seen laser light show across the main stages.
The Sunburn 2009 security was also phenomenally enhanced. 24 hour CCTVs, sniffer dogs, Tops Security from Mumbai, the Goa Police, Black Cats, and watchtowers kept a tight eye on the attending crowds.
Christmas Sparkles
Percept’s Corporate HR embarked upon an innovative and CSR oriented drive titled ‘Sparkles’ to celebrate the week of Christmas. The excitement kick started with innovative teaser campaigns for the first fortnight of December 2009. ‘Sparkles’ involved all Perceptites in Mumbai in varied competitions and a range of fun across a week.
The celebrations included a spirited Christmas competition, a special movie screening of ‘Hangover’, themed dress codes that ranged from Xmas Colours to Funky Hawaiian styles, and an evening of delectable snacks to herald the festive season.
‘Sparkles’ also invited Perceptites to dedicate a day to social service activities. Perceptites were given an opportunity to donate clothes, groceries, toys, books, etc to the NGO Anand Niketan (King George V Memorial). This activity drew unparalleled involvement from all Perceptites.
