'Sabki Bajegi Band' to expose Bollywood celebrities

RJ Anirudh Chawla, who has directed this film, apparently got the idea after he hosted a farmhouse party last year. Unknown to his celebrity guests comprising Bollywood actors and models, he reportedly placed 12 cameras in secret locations to record their intimate conversations that revolved around sexuality, kinks, fantasies, marriages, affairs and rivalries. The raw, uncensored footage was so scandalous that the radio jockey decided to turn it into the country's first reality film! It is being said that when the celebrities heard about the film 'revealing all', they threatened to sue him for breach of privacy. So, he devised a novel way of presenting what he had recorded to an audience that he knew would enjoy it. Names were changed and events were dramatised using actors like Swara Bhaskar, Sumeet Vyas, Amol Parashar, Alekh Sangal and Aman Uppal. Produced by Yusuf Shaikh and directed by Anirudh, the film has a tagline that says it all: No mercy, only controversy. The teasers, which use blurred images and dialogue posters, have generated curiosity, as has the film's trailer, which released recently. Sabki Bajegi Band, produced by YEN Films and presented by Percept Pictures, releases May 1.

Karan Singh speaks about ‘Sunburn On Air’

The leading power house and pioneer of dance music in India, Sunburn is celebrating the 50th episode of their iconic online radio show and a household name in the dance music industry – Sunburn On Air and that too with some electro-tinged festival rhythms! India’s premier electronic music brand will for the very first time be presenting dance music’s monster radio on-ground event titled #SOA50 that will mark a milestone for the brand and will be broadcasted live across the globe via sunburn in uniting millions in every continent. To celebrate the episode, electrifying concerts will be held across 3 cities including Hyderabad on 17th April at Hitex, Madhaopur, Chennai on 18th April at Confluence Banquets and Resorts, and Amanora Arena Park, Pune on 19th April featuring World #18 Dutch duo W&W, Sunburn resident DJ Shaan and Goa-based progressive house, trance and techno DJ and producer Anish Sood. T.H.E – Hi Karan! Firstly, congratulations on reaching 50 episodes of #SunburnOnAir. Massive achievement there. We would like to know how did the concept of “Sunburn On Air” radio show came into existence? Karan – Being the leaders in the segment of EDM it is our endeavor to expand the category and educate the youth about this category of music. Also it was a natural progression for us to take the music from onground and popularize it across other medium to have an effective and far more impacting reach. Therefore “SunburnOnAir” was conceptualized. T.H.E –Considering that India has grown exponentially in terms of a market for #EDM artists across the globe, did this insight play a role in launching your own radio show to cater to the ever growing needs of dance music fans in India? Karan – EDM is, unapologetically, the music of the screenagers, the generation of today. A generation of music fans is shifting their choice of music from the hip-hop driven popular music to the polished sounds that fall under the umbrella of EDM. Sunburn’s growth over the last eight years is hard evidence of EDM’s acceleration into a genre that is viable in terms of fans and brands wanting to interact with fans. .Also India with its 600 mn youth population, is a huge potential market waiting to be explored by the global artists thereby making Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune the first choice of cities for their appearance. Having said that Sunburn has already demonstrated effectively via Sunburn reloads that EDM is a phenomenon which is equally revered in cities like Raipur, Indore, Surat, Trivandrum etc… T.H.E – The name, “Sunburn On Air” is very similar to Hardwell’s radio show, “Hardwell On Air” which prides itself on providing the best and the latest in EDM every week. Is that the objective “Sunburn On Air” strives to achieve? If yes, how exactly do you plan to achieve this considering that almost every artist has his own radio show and similar objectives? Karan – Why only Hardwell several such shows exist globally. Sunburn is a local grown phenomenon now at par with Tomorrwland and Ultra Miami festival as per the latest International Music Summit 2014 report. The show is anchored by our well known homegrown talent DJ Anish Sood and is unique in the format of being a mix of tracks by national and international DJs. Content wise it has a vast variety for audience listening entertainment. T.H.E – Armin van Buuren’s radio show, “A State Of Trance” has a global tour planned every time it finishes 50 episodes. Could we expect something similar from “Sunburn On Air”, not just within India but across the globe in the future? Karan – Yes of course these are initial steps that we have taken in the direction of popularizing this segment in India and we can already see the result in SunburnOnAir having the largest number of downloads on itunes. T.H.E – Anish Sood is responsible for hosting the “Sunburn On Air” radio shows. Tell us a bit on how this came about. Karan – Anish Sood has been associated with Percept Live and Sunburn from the very beginning itself and the relationship has only fructified and matured in the years to come. He is a fantastic artist, a much appreciated DJ by his fans and a great human being. It only made sense that we should further extend this relationship via asking him to be our resident DJ on our show. T.H.E – Considering that you have achieved the first milestone of reaching 50 episodes, and are currently one of the most popular dance music radio shows in India, what’s next for #SunburnOnAir? Karan – We are thrilled to have achieved this status on SunburnOnAir. What we do envisage it to be in future is a weekly podcast and become a full fledged channel with different formats of shows. We would like to promote EDM as a genre overall across the globe. FLY Music Festival to expand with separate Concerts and an Annual Festival

In the coming year, Percept Media's live property FLY Music Festival will see expansion. The festival, well known for showcasing international singing star Ed Sheeran, will soon have multi-city properties, confirmed Sunburn Global CEO Karan Singh. He said that the plan is to have multiple FLY concerts every year and to have an annual festival. "The response we received with Ed Sheeran's performance at FLY Music Festival surpassed all our expectations. We will continue to bring contemporary music artists like Ed Sheeran to headline FLY Music Festival. The FLY concerts will consist of solo acts, while the annual music festival will have a line-up of multiple artists," said Singh. "We are looking at premiering the first couple of FLY concerts sometime between this October and November," he further added.Sunburn will conduct the first on-ground property of its online radio show, #SunburnOnAir on 17, 18 and 19 April 2015. Currently, Sunburn On Air is in association with TuneIn Radio, Digitally Imported (DI) and Tenzi FM. However, Singh said that they will definitely be adding the Sunburn On Air mixes to more online radio stations. When asked about it, Singh also commented on the expansion plan Percept is planning for Sunburn. "We are looking at international markets this year, where we could take Sunburn; it is already present in Dubai and Columbo. In the next few months, we plan to take Sunburn to Jakarta and Russia," stated the Harvard Business School alumnus. He further added, "Electronic music is really picking up in many countries and Sunburn has a massive following in Russia, and it is a major market for us. Many people who come to Goa for Sunburn are from Russia." Speaking on what they look for while venturing into new markets, Singh said, "We look at a market where we do not have to face a lot of competition. We often look into markets where Sunburn already has a certain amount of reputation and/or is easily recognized. While getting into foreign markets, we assign local partners there, on whose market knowledge we rely upon." Singh also added that whenever Sunburn looks into developing itself in a foreign market, they start with a day-long Sunburn festival, as opposed to the frequent Sunburn concerts that they hold in India. "You cannot venture into a foreign market looking at it from a long term perspective. Based on the response we get for the one-day fest, we deliberate on if and how to take things forward," stated Singh. Singh also said that, in addition to FLY and Sunburn, Percept plans to focus on its other two music properties called 'Windsong' and 'Bollyboom'. 'Windsong' is an adventure music festival aimed at independent music lovers, while 'Bollyboom' is a Bollywood dance music festival. Sunburn On Air's first event will be headlined by Dutch electronic duo W&W; and they are scheduled to perform in Hyderabad on 17 April, Chennai on 18 April and Pune on 19 April. Sunburn will next bring Armin van Buuren to India to perform at 'A State of Trance' on 6 June in Mumbai.

Sunburn Gets Crazy for SOA’s 50th episode

Sunburn is here as soon as summer is here in the city, but this time people were talking about an entirely different ‘Sunburn’ – the arena which brings together some of the titans from the world of DJing. As Global Sound, a brainchild of Sparkkz brought ‘Sunburn on Air’ as part of its 50th episode celebrations, at the Confluence Banquets & Resorts on Saturday, more and more people who loved to party hard thronged to a full packed venue. With a stage, which was embellished with LED walls and ‘State of the Art’ audio lighting equipment, this edition of Sunburn did not fall short of people’s expectations, as it brought DJs such as the popular W&W (Ward Van Der Harst and Willem Van Hanegam), who headlined the show, along with DJs from the country like Shaan, Anish Sood and Sleepwalker together at the same venue. As the saying goes, ‘Dance like nobody’s watching,’ people shook a leg to the heart thumping music and danced without a care in the world. There was neither synchrony in their steps, nor precision or technicality in their movements, but, who cared, so long as they were taken to a completely new realm through the music.

The scintillating Sunburn Goa 2014 Aftermovie is here

After teasing fans with a bunch of short movies since last week, Sunburn Festival has been building up the anticipation for the official Aftermovie quite nicely, and it’s finally here. Kicking off with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike‘s ‘Hum‘, the Aftermovie kicks off with a small flashback of Sunburn over the years, starting off from 2007 with Carl Cox, 2009 with Armin van Buuren, 2010 with Axwell and Ferry Corsten, 2011 with Above & Beyond, 2012 with Fedde Le Grand and Paul van Dyk and 2013 with Afrojack. Taking the viewers behind the scenes, from the hard work that the Sunburn crew put in to the melange of shots from the 3 days of the festival, ranging from the vast crowd to the phenomenal shots of the stages and fireworks, the 6 minute long Aftermovie manages to capture the essence of the festival.
