Tamil film ‘Kanchivaram’ won the Best Feature Film Award at the 55th National Film Awards. Adoor Gopalakrishnan got the Best Director Award for Malayalam Film ‘Naalu Pennungal’ at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi on October 21, 2009.
Prakash Raj received the Best Actor Award for his performance in the film ‘Kanchivaram’ and Uma Sri was awarded the Best Actress Award for her role in the Kannada film ‘Gulabi Talkies’.
"I am very excited. It is the biggest award of the country, which has the 2nd highest population in the world. I am on a high," said Shailendra Singh, Managing Director of Percept Picture Company (PPC) that produced ‘Kanchivaram’.
President Pratibha Patil conferred the National Film Awards for 2007.

Close on the heels of the piracy racket going bust in the Indian film industry, Percept Picture Company (PPC) has announced a movie which will dwell on the piracy menace. The film called ‘Pirates’ will be directed by ‘Baabarr’ fame Director Ashu Trikha.
Percept Limited’s Joint Managing Director Shailendra Singh said, "Percept has always recognized the power that cinema has in making a social difference. We were pioneers in Cause Cinema through our film ‘Phir Milenge’ addressing AIDS. We have also in the past addressed piracy through ad films and music concerts. I strongly believe that ‘Pirates’ would provide an ideal vehicle to create consumer awareness through the medium of entertainment."

Kids entertainment channel ‘Pogo’ has launched a new television series, ‘Adventure of Hanuman’ that will be telecast every Sunday at 10.00 am. Produced by Percept Picture Company (PPC), the five episode 2D animation series is divided into 2 parts of 11 minutes each. The episodes are ‘Shani Ka Khatarnak Paudha’, ‘Hanuman Aur Robot’, ‘Antariksh Se Hamla’, ‘Hanuman Aur Khatarnak Danav’, ‘Ret Ka Pret’, ‘Hanuman Aur Mayavi Parchhai’, ‘Hawa Mein Gayab’, ‘Hanuman Aur Adhbhut Ghoda’, ‘Girgit’ and ‘Hanuman Aur Darawana Snowman’. Said Mr. Shailendra Singh, "Hanuman is a property that maintains a very passionate fan base in kids. We are very passionate about our association with the ‘Turner Group’ and we are hoping to provide more entertainment to kids.

In an effort to give sports persons from various disciplines their due, Sahara has launched the ‘Sahara India Sports Awards’. The aim of the awards is to felicitate achievements in different fields. The awards will also recognise the contribution of coaches, administrators and officials. The first edition will take place on 9th November.
