Percept Picture Company wins 5 Awards at the V. Shantaram Awards 2009

\'Kanchivaram\' won top honors at the prestigious Race V. Shantaram Awards 2009 and bagged 4 awards at a glittering ceremony held in Mumbai on Monday, 21 December 2009.
 
Percept Picture Company bagged the Gold Award in the ‘Best Motion Picture’ category for ‘Kanchivaram’, beating films like \'Love Aaj Kal’, ‘New York’, ‘Bhramaram’, ‘Garibcha Paus’ and ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’. Priyadarshan won the celebrated Gold Award in the ‘Best Director category for Kanchivaram, while Actor Prakash Raj bagged the ‘Best Actor Award’ for his touching performance in the same film. Acclaimed cinematographer Thiru also won an award in the ‘Best Cinematography’ category for the same film. 
 
The film, using Tamil language and grammar of that period, was produced by Percept Picture Company in partnership with Priyadarshan’s Four Frames Pictures. 
 
It was a glorious evening for Percept Picture Company as Nandita Das won the ‘Best Debutant Director Award’ for ‘Firaaq’, another heartwarming film from the PPC stable.

Movies like Kanchivaram and Firaaq touch a million hearts and are cross-boundary products. The V. Shantaram Awards have been instituted in the memory of the legendary filmmaker, the late Shri. V Shantaram, and aims to recognize cinematic excellence across the country.
